In addition to parenting and making music, I teach Irish traditional fiddle, classical violin, and piano lessons.
The main focus of my studio is teaching Irish traditional fiddle and so I chose the name the Cavan (pronounced like ‘cabin’ but with a V instead of a B) Fiddle Studio to honor my mother Carmel who grew up in Swanlinbar, County Cavan, Ireland and who has always been music inspiration beginning when she took up the fiddle as an adult student.
I began playing the fiddle at the age of 3 and piano at 6. Many of my happiest childhood memories center around musical events. I went on to get my degree in music from The University of Iowa and became a board-certified music therapist in 2000.
